Chess is a game of subtleties, which is exemplified by the visual detail and complexity of this chessboard. An avid player himself, the landscape photographer Stephen F. Mansard has combined his love of chess with his photographic talent to create a unique collector’s chessboard. Each square on the chessboard is represented by an original Mansard photograph. This collector’s set is comprised of scenes from America’s southwest. The continuity of reds and whites in these desert landscapes are subtly arranged, forming the visual whole. These desert colors are perfectly complemented by the House of Staunton Windsor Series. The arrangement of the pictures is strategically done with the chess-players mindset. For example, the “white” squares face the white player as the “red” squares face the red player. But this board goes beyond most in that the four centers square form a single larger picture that faces no one. This always reminds players to gain control of the volatile center, which hastens victory. This chessboard provides other advantages as well. All chess players know how it is to be stuck in a tedious game, but with this board you have many stunning vistas to savor and inspire the imagination as your opponent’s clock ticks. This chessboard is the ultimate child of art, utility and pleasure. This is a limited edition of 100 so don't delay.
